Major Key Features:
Muscular and thrifty diesel powerplant, more space, handy off-road, good number of safety gear, decent price
Price and Equipment:
Priced at $39,990, the petrol Sport model is competitive with upper-level versions of models like Kia’s Sorento. The Jeep’s features are modest: this includes climate control, powered windows, six-stack CD player and cruise control. You won’t find any leather-shod steering wheel or trip computer just 16-inch alloy wheels. Compared to Nissan’s pathfinder, the Jeep’s value is much better.
Under the Bonnet:
Jeep’s Cherokee, CRD’s 130kW, 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four is thoroughly updated when you are talking about technology. It pumps out 460 Nm of torque from 2100 rpm.
Aside from that, the on-road result is also favourable. Put the foot down and it sprints eagerly, it also reacts with determination to calls for rolling acceleration. It will tow up to 2270 kg and has a long-legged cruising gait that eats hills.
Fuel economy is average. We got a commendable 10.5 L/100 km on test - not a match for the 9.4 L official figure, but pretty good for a two-tonne 4WD.
How it drives:
In mixing a tough, traditional 4WD chassis with modern electronic trickery, the Cherokee is not only capable off the beaten track but rather it is user-friendly as well.
Proficient on tarmac, the Jeep has a heavy-duty 4WD standard. It, however, cannot disguise its weight and limitations of its live rear axle.
Comfort and Practicality:
Upscale features can be seen throughout Grand Cherokee's interior: leather-wrapped park brake handle; leather front door armrest, leather wrap on instrument panel and center console armrest.
Overland features an upscale leather treatment on seats, doors and dashboard and heated second row seats.
Safety:
Safety and security as can be expected comes first in every Jeep Cherokee Manufactured. The latest model of Jeep Grand Cherokee has both passive and active safety and security measures. These include the standard advanced multistage airbags in both the driver’s and front passenger’s seats. Airbags can also be found on the front and rear side-curtain side. Jeep has received an impressive 5-star rating for safety by US crash testers.
